Traveling to the UK
Before you begin your journey to the UK, it is important that you make
sure you have the right documents and enough Sterling currency to cover
your expenses once you arrive in the UK.
There are certain items that you may need before you collect your
luggage at arrivals so when packing your hand luggage make sure you pack
the following items: |
-
Passport, including visa or entry
clearance if you require it.
-
Travel tickets and journey
information.
-
Currency – carry your cash, travelers'
cheques and credit cards. Pack these securely, a money belt would be
ideal.
-
Letter of acceptance from your chosen
education institution.
-
Documentation proving that you are
able to pay for your education fees and have enough money to cover
your living costs for the duration of your course.
-
Any degree certificates or
qualifications you have, these need to be originals or certified
copies.
-
Health documents should you require
them.
-
Some warm clothing for when you arrive
in the UK.

There are a number of items that you
are not allowed to carry in your hand luggage. They include: |
- Any sharp objects – i.e scissors,
nail cutters, pen knifes etc
- Liquids, gels and cosmetics over
250ml.
- Aerosols
- Lighters – you are not permitted
to carry these anywhere in your luggage.

These restrictions can
vary so it is a good idea to visit the airports website closer to your
departure date and check on current restrictions. Alternatively a list
of prohibited items can be made available by the airline when you book
your tickets.
Before you leave
Insurance
Before you travel, ensure that you have arranged your travel insurance
and that it meets all of your requirements. If you’re taking a lot of
personnel belongings with you it is advisable that you arrange insurance
on these also. You will need to arrange contents insurance once you
arrive in the UK. Our backup team can advise you on reputable insurers
that have polices designed specially for students.
Arranging Accommodation
It is a good idea to try and arrange your accommodation in the UK before
you leave India. Whilst our counselors and your chosen university will
help you find accommodation it is ultimately your responsibility to
ensure that your accommodation is arranged and that it will be ready for
you to move in to as soon as you arrive in the UK.
Many Education institutions have student accommodation ranging from;
halls of residence, private halls, private housing, hostels or lodging
with a UK family. The type of accommodation will vary on where you study
and the majority of institutions will have accommodation officers who
along with our counseling team can provide you with all the information
and advice you need.
For more information on the type of
accommodation available
