  • Find out as much information about the company as possible, good sources include websites, directories and company literature.
  • Always obtain a job specification. Make sure you measure up to the criteria set out in the brief.
  • Identify key examples from previous employment that demonstrates your ability and suitability to do the job in question.
  • Before answering a question try to think quickly about what you are being asked. Listen to the question, why is it being asked? What information is the interviewer hoping to obtain?

  • Always be confident in your answer.

  • Never try and avoid the question.

  • Do yourself justice in your answers.

  • Maintain eye contact with the interviewer throughout the interview, do not stare. This demonstrates your interest in what the interviewer is saying and is seen as a strength in character.

  • Smile. If you are seen to be enjoying the interview and meeting the interviewer they are more likely to want to see you again.

  • Ask thoughtful questions at the end of the interview. This shows you have been listening and have done your research.

  • Arrive ten minutes before your interview is due to begin.

  • If your nervous take some deep breathes and calm yourself before going into the interview.

  • Dress smartly, professional and business like.

  • Speak clearly, ensure the conversation flows naturally.

  • Be honest, an interview will find out if your lying.

  • Keep it professional.

  • Be yourself
