sciences: a combination of IT and Biotechnology. Molecular biology
is the basis of Bioinformatics. A degree in Bioinformatics includes
subjects like: Life Sciences, Basics of Molecular Biology, Protein
Synthesis, Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid (DNA) Fingerprinting; and in
computer sciences, MS office, Linux, HTML and Perl. Anyone who likes
to dabble in Bioinformatics must have had a formal training in
science or computers.
A prospective student should ask himself following questions before
choosing a career in Bioinformatics:
Do you have a sound background in life science subjects?
Are you familiar with computer programmes?
Are you good at extracting information?
Do you have the patience to be in a research lab for long periods?
If you seriously get the answers in "Yes", go ahead, an excellent

solutions to critical problems.
In the health care sector, Biotechnology can be used to make a human
cell immortal. Application of stem cells based technology has made
skin-grafting a possibility. Organ transplant has become a reality
only through Biotechnology.
It is estimated that 300,000 jobs would be generated in next three
years. It is unlikely that a qualified bio-technologist will remain
unemployed. Employers include multinationals, pharmaceutical majors
and innumerable research institutions & laboratories around the
world. Students can even look at managerial positions in large
organizations. There is a great demand for scientist and
researchers.
Exciting developments is genomics and DNA research, medical and

Hospital management is emerging as a career for young aspirants, as
it becomes more and more difficult for a doctor to do justice to his
mission as a healer, and that of a manager of a hospital.
Management has become the need of hour today. With the growth of
population, the need for health care service has increased
tremendously in the last decade. As a result more and more
hospitals, government run as well as private, nursing homes, and
health care centers have sprung up. There are a lot of similarities
between the hospitality industry and hospital management. Just like
a hotel manager, a hospital manager ensures the smooth running of
everyday functions such as front office, reception, billing,
security, marketing, customer relations, food & beverages, laundry
and housekeeping. Hospital management however focuses on social
services in hospitals, financial management, organization and

subdivided into dozens of various specialty fields, depending on the
individual needs of a particular segment of industry or commerce.
However, the general categories of opportunities available in
Information Technology include Programmers, Systems Analysts,
Network Technology Specialists, Web Design and Management,
Enterprise Systems Developers, and Technical Writers.
Though from the headlines in our newspapers it might appear that the
job market for skilled information technology workers is on a
decline, various sources indicate that there are currently between
350,000 and 400,000 IT jobs waiting for the individuals with the
right skill-set to fill them and join the approximately eleven
million individuals currently employed in IT-related positions. In
addition, many of these currently unfilled positions are
entry-level.
Web Design and Website Administration are also fields that will need
many skilled individuals over the next decade. These professions
deal primarily with the creation and maintenance of web sites. There
are companies that exist solely to handle websites for client
corporations. There are also plenty of openings at individual
companies, which prefer to handle website development and
maintenance in-house.
The information technology field has created more wealth, over the
last 30 years or so, than virtually any other single technological
advancement in the history of mankind, and no other industry has
created as many millionaires (over 7,000, to date!) or billionaires.

Indian sports come of age with success in the international arena.
Success of Indian sportspersons in tennis, chess, badminton, golf,
football, billiards in the past few years and in the recently held
Commonwealth Games and Asian Games has refueled interest in sports
as a profession.
There is a lot of potential in this field. One can become a
physiotherapist, who advises sports persons on how to gain muscle
and stamina and prevent injury. Sports nutritionists advise them on
the right diet. Specialists in sports medicine look after the
specific needs of sports persons. Those with keen interest in
athletics and sports find a suitable outlet in training as a fitness
trainer for the general public, models and also sports
professionals. Sports Science graduates who are interested in sports
could find a profitable niche as sports managers and in sports media
engagements. Also, there are options like Stadium Operations and
Facilities Management. Many institutions offer sports scholarships
and assistance for promising sports persons and supporting
personnel.
Sports from the time immemorial have always been a good career
option. Good sportspersons are recognized worldwide and with
recognition comes monetary rewards in the form of jobs and cash
awards, from the government as well as the corporate world. So, sky
is the limit for a sportsperson if he or she gives everything for
the game.
